For the past 10 days, 10,000-plus athletes have been waiting their turn to do what they've spent years of their lives preparing for: competing in the Olympic Games in Beijing. (And I admit it, I have a mild case of Olympic fever, which only exacerbates my addiction to TV and my DVR.) The athletes on my TV have played a game of hurry up & wait to perform the task they have been training for.
And for the past 10 days, this artist has been waiting her turn to do what I've spent the past year (and arguably, years in my case, if you count all the inadvertent ways I have trained myself to become a voiceover artist) preparing for: getting an agent so I can begin auditioning in earnest.
The website is up and running (and thank you to those of you who've checked it out & sent me your feedback!). The demos have been sent. And I've been auditioning and performing as much as I can and wherever I can in order to keep my skills sharp. And after all that hurrying up, it's time to wait.
But while I'm waiting, I think I'll watch a little more of the Olympics.
